I love makeup. Some consider my collection a bit crazy, but what can I do, it brings me so much happiness and joy. It isn’t about the change it makes to my appearance, because we are all beautiful without anything on our faces. For me, it just adds a little confidence. The process of applying makeup has always been very therapeutic to me. Today I wanted to share some of my go-to products for any season. My skin is normal to dry, for reference. I don’t wear makeup every single day, but this is a look I would sport either for class or just a normal day. Sometimes I love going full on “cake face”, but most of the time I opt for products that make my face look light and fresh. My favorite place to buy products is Ulta because of the rewards and I love the mix of high end with drugstore. I do have a few higher end things to talk about, but I will also recommend my favorite less expensive option. I will be uploading a post all about my favorite higher end makeup that I think are worth the splurge soon!
I always fill in my eyebrows first. I have very light colored brows and it always makes me feel the most put together when they have some color to them. The product that I am using in the picture is an Hourglass product, and I am using the color “Soft Brunette. This is a very pricey item, but I find my brows are the most essential part of my routine. I also really love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow definer. This product is similar, however the color is a little lighter. My favorite drugstore brow product is by Wet and Wild, it is around 4 dollars and it does basically the same thing as the Hourglass one. Next is Primer. This is a step I know many people skip because they find their moisturizer does the same thing. You aren’t wrong, however, if you work primer into the skin, you will get a nice sticky base for your foundation to stick to, making the foundation stay on longer. The worst part about makeup is that your hard work wears off, it’s really not fair right? Since I don’t have oily skin, the only primer I need is my Too Faced Hangover Primer. It feels like a light moisturizer, but also helps make my makeup last longer.During most of the year, I tend to lean toward a lighter foundation, sometimes skipping it all around. My fav lightweight foundation is the Garner BB cream in the shade light. I love this product, however, the color selection NEEDS to be larger. I use the lightest shade, but it only works for me during vacation or times when I am very tanned (for myself lol). The base color of the BB cream is very “orangey”, but I love it so much I make it work by mixing something alongside of it.
To add more coverage to my cheeks, I like to add a little bit of the Wet and Wild cushion foundation. It is light-weight, but evens out my skin tone a little more.
To blend in the cushion foundation, I usually go for the little applicator it comes with or my makeup sponge.Lately I have really been enjoying the Catrice concealer for under my eyes. I always feel like my under eyes look dry, even with concealers that are super high end. This concealer lasts LITERALLY all day on my skin, doesn’t cake up under the eye, and leaves the beautiful highlighted under eye. PERFECTION! And…at $5.99, it won’t break the bank! I found mine at Ulta and I always wear the lightest shade possible in most brands. This shade is Light 005. You have to look cute to the camera when you have two lines under your eyes 🙂 I also apply this concealer on my eyelids and use it as a primer before eyeshadow. This small step will help prolong your eyeshadow!
A little tip when you are applying blush, make sure to put a little along your temples and a tiny bit on your nose. If it is just on the apples of your cheeks, it can look a little cakey.Next is highlight. My face expression says it all. I LOVE highlight. It is so sparkly and pretty. It is basically all of my childhood dreams. This pallet is wonderful as it has a bunch of colors for many skin tones. They are not too much as well. Apply highlight on the tops of your cheeks, under the brow, down the nose, and a little bit on the cupids bow. It will pull everything together!I love doing eye makeup, because it can completely change a look. To begin, I always take a little bit of the bronzer on a fluffy crease brush and apply it to the crease.Make sure to use “windshield-wiper” motions. It will create a seamless blended look!
I used my finger to apply the pigment because it is always more intense that way, plus its just easier!
Next I went in with the matte shade next to it to blend together the lid and the crease.
The most important step in makeup in my opinion is mascara. It really helps bring out your eyes. This product here is $4.99 and it is the best mascara EVER! I will never go back.
This is the face I make when I am almost done! All that is left is the lippies!
This time I used this really pretty pink/coral color from Colourpop cosmetics! It is in collaboration with Kathleen lights, it lasts forever and it is so beautiful!
The finishing touch is setting spray! It locks everything together and makes it last all day! This one is my fav and it’s from Milani Cosmetics!
And that’s it! This is the finished look! I will be uploading my date night and going out makeup routine soon!
P.S.- Are y’all makeup obsessed, too? Or are you just starting to learn how to use everything? I’d love to know! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this long post!
XO,
Lovely face and great photos! Must cost more than the makeup!
